Leaving a Legacy

Leave a legacy to the UK Fund for Charities or to the UKFC on behalf of any of our International Programme Members.

How to Leave a Legacy to the UKFC

Leaving a gift to charity in your Will can not only give you profound satisfaction in knowing that your support will live on into the future, but can also make the burden of inheritance tax on your estate lighter.

However you choose to remember charity through your Will, and whatever size your legacy may be, you can be sure it really will be appreciated. With our help, arranging your UKFC Charitable Legacy is a simple and flexible process.

There are two main types of gift that you can leave in your will to UK Fund For Charities:

– You can leave a specific sum of money or an item such as jewellery or a piece of art

– You can leave a share in, or all of, what’s left of the value of your estate after all bills have been paid and all other legacies have been distributed.

If you would like to add a gift to UK Fund for Charities to an existing will, you can use a codicil. Adding a codicil to your will means there is no need to change the terms of your current will. It simply adds a new instruction. As a rule if the change you wish to make is quite small or simple, you can use a codicil, and if the change is more significant or complex you should make a new will.

Talk to our team about adding a codicil to your will.

If you wish to make several changes, big or small, it is advisable to make a new will. If you have any questions around writing a codicil or updating your will, you should seek advice from a solicitor or professional adviser.

If you would like information on making or updating your will, we suggest contacting one of the following organisations:

Legacy FAQs

Send cheque to the UK Fund for Charities UKFC PO Box 288, Crowborough, TN6 9EX

If you want your gift to be used in a certain way – for a particular cause i.e Children, to an International Programme Member and / or project – you can include this in your Will. However, please phrase this as a request, not a condition. If the conditions are stated too specifically and circumstances change (i.e The International Programme Member Organisation or campaign has ceased to exist), sadly we may not be able to honour your legacy gift.

Charities are generally exempt from inheritance tax on bequests made to them in Wills. However, please do discuss possible ways of minimising the tax burden on your estate with your solicitor. (Please note: the Gift Aid scheme does not apply to gifts in Wills.)

No. Unfortunately we do not have the capacity or staff availability to be able to offer this service.
