Durban High School Classroom Expansion Project
Durban High School is a Public School with a total of 963 learners and the Cambridge / Nonpareil teaching center is currently based on the first floor of the Old Science block on the Essenwood Road end of the building of the School.
The current classroom capacity has already been reached and therefore, without additional classroom capacity, the School would have to turn away fee paying students and other deserved students in 2022.
Therefore, more classroom space is needed, and the only way is to build is above the existing Cambridge classrooms.
The School investigated this possibility of this and completed this investigation in March 2021 where it was determined that they could go one more level up. Based on this, the Foundation and the School engaged with a contractor to estimate costs and have drawn up plans for the construction.
The building costs together with furniture & fittings and the IT cost are estimated in the region of R11m
